While there is one story teller, medical publication is the outcome of many and a history of our patients journey.

Journal Publications

Why publish ?

Medical publication is educational for the authors and the readers. It takes rigor, perserverance and humility and depends on the accumulated published experience, recognising and referencing those who have gone before. Ideally the work will add to the store of knowledge. Medical journals have world rankings and the status of an article is often reflected by the particular journal it resides. Like getting your photo on the cover of 'Rolling Stone'.  Knock backs are common and sometimes not deserved.

Clinical improvements are usually incremental and continuous. Medical knowledge is cloud based and slowly swirls engulfing those whose eyes and ears are closed. Publication gives clarity and light and points to the future.

It is us the public who benefit from the wisdom that is diffused through the written words

Many great clinicians do not publish but they will all read. Publishing does not necessarily make you a good clinician. But it helps. The authors end up knowing an awful lot about their topic.

It is often the simplist publication that can help with a patient problem. Learning from another patient reduces the risk and helps save lives.

Publication is demanding but rewarding. It is creative and there is an addictive pleasure in seeing your stuff in print, however simple the paper and humble the publication.
